Welcome to my studio, museum and gallery. My passion is art. I think about it all day and I dream about it at night. I learn a technique until there is nother more to learn. I like doing art the hard way. I don't take any short cuts. My art is my life.

Sidney Picking Flowers by Michael Roman Sidney Picking Flowers
Oil on Canvas
24 x 30 inches
2000

Sidney Picking Flowers was done from a photograph taken by her mother, Linda. After several months of painting a stiff image, I finally turned the canvas up-side-down and started over. Most of the painting you see here was done in about four hours.

The face has a impressionist quality while the background feels like a thicker post-impressionism. I hope the family enjoys this painting for years.

Vincent's Starry Night by Michael RomanVincent's Starry Night
Linoleum Block Print
5 x 7 inches
2003

I got the chance to see Starry Night by Vincent van Gogh at the Museum of Fine Art in Houston on loan from the Museum of Mordern Art in New York.

If you were on my Christmas card list for 2003 then you received a numbered copy of this print in a blue-green on white card stock. Some very special friends received this image printed in white ink on black paper. Not very Christmasy, but very beautiful.

God Bless You, Mr. Vonnegut by Michael Roman God Bless You, Mr. Vonnegut
Nikon
3 x 6 inches
2007

Kurt Vonnegut, one of my favorite authors, passed away on Wed., April 11, 2007, in New York.

I can't thank Mr. Vonnegut enough for all the humor and sarcasm he brought into my life.

I thought maybe I should draw or paint or print something in his honor. But instead I decided on showing the books that he wrote and I read. It was time well spent.

So it goes.

Nasher Sculpture Center by Michael Roman Nasher Sculpture Center
Rolleicord
5 x 5 inches
2005

Mr. Nasher recently passed away and I thought it only fitting to display a photograph I took of this wonderful work on loan at the Nasher Sculpture Center.

I took my girls to see it one day. As usualy, I did not tell them where we were going to what we were going to see. I only told them we were going to see people walking into the sky. I must have answered "I can't tell you" to about a hundred questions.

My girls were amazed at what they saw.

It was a beautiful day at the sculpture center.

Thank you, Mr. Nasher.
